I just made my first Pinny from Boo! Designs for the Pattern Reveloution Pinny Challenge.  There is just something that screams "little girl" about this pattern!  And it also takes me back to my childhood.  I can remember wearing similar jumpers and dresses back in the 80's.  I might admit some ruffles were involved, maybe. I was not a girlie girl by any means. At least I didn't consider myself that way.  Give me a comfy pair of jeans and a tee shirt and I'm a happy girl.  I didn't wear dresses very often.  And there could be no pink AT ALL.  But watching myself on the only home video I have of myself as a little girl, I can see where they thought I could pull off the ruffles.  I was the pitcher for my softball team.  Every time we were up to bat, I had to fix my pony tail.  I was very picky of how I held the bat, ball, glove, how I stood in the box and I never swung at the first pitch.  I had to see how they were going to pitch to me...constantly analyzing others.  A trait I still have today!  SHOCKED right?  LOL  SO, this VERY girlie girl to my left over here can pull off some serious ruffles.  I do plan on making more of these.  They are fabulous!  So easy to sew.  And like Kristie (from Boo! Designs) reminisces about those Choose Your Own Adventure books which were also a HUGE favorite of mine, there are a ton of creative ways to make this into something your very own!  Now let's hope that lace overlay is a huge success and wins me the rest of the collection!!

On a side note....that last pict of Jenna reminds me that this dress might make a great Alice in Wonderland Halloween costume.  Now to convince her of that!!!

Here are a couple of options that I will be offering for this week's buys.  I already have to make a fabric purchase and I don't like to pay for shipping.  Who does, really?  So the more fabric I order= free shipping!  So that means free shipping for YOU too!  For this week only,  the "Addy" mashup will be offered in 3 different fabric group options.  Just send me a message on FB or under the post if you want one of the options.  This dress offers a sweetheart bodice with A) Halter Straps (shown) or B) Reverse Knot , Twirly Skirt, and Ruffle (ruffle not shown).  This dress is named Addy for my sweet little cousin who modeled it for me pictured below with Jenna.  Such a sweet little baby girl!  Anyway, now for the fabric combos!!!!

So, now lets talk sizes and prices!

6mo-18mo $40 shipped!
2-5 $45 shipped!
6-8 $50 shipped!

The catch?  Payment needs to be received before fabric is ordered on FRIDAY.

I hope you find something you want me to make for you!  Of course custom orders are still offered. If you want to pick your own fabrics by all means, send your choices my way and I will quote you a price :)

Until next time...

Well we made it through our first and second big photo shoots and I LOVE the picts Becca got!  She really did a great job :)

We have had a whirlwind of a first year and with lots of GIVEAWAYS to commemorate the 1st year anniversary!  I hope you all enjoyed entering them.  I wish everyone could have won something!!!!  But there will be more giveaways in the future to enter.  Thank you to everyone who claimed their prizes so quickly too!!!  That always makes it easier on us...not having to track anyone down.

The winner of the "We Wear Merri Poppins" contest was DUSTY S. and I have the privilege to make an entire outfit for her sweet little one!!!!  EEEK!  I am so excited about that.

Becca and I have some summertime themed items coming up soon.  Hopefully something will catch your eye and you will have to have me sew it for you!!!  I will even have some M2M (made to match) hair accessories available to choose from. Not to mention some yummy chunky beaded necklaces that we are addicted to M2M of course!

We also have participated in "Sewing to Rebuild" to help benefit the tornado victims in Moore, OK.  We raised an amount of money that I am excited about sending to the Red Cross!!!  The exact figure will be posted after all of the invoices are taken care of.  But needless to say, we are anxious to make our contribution!!  We also have a box of clothing items which didn't sell at the auction that will be sent directly to Moore, OK.  I love being able to help someone else out on this kind of scale....see what can happen if everyone just gave a little...It DOES make a difference!!

Until next time.......

In last week's giveaway there was a question about how I named my  business.  Some of you left me some wonderful guesses!!!  Here is a  recap!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~Bambi~
" I am not sure how you came up with MerriPoppins but I LOVE THE NAME! I guess  that is something I
should have asked in talking to you :).......  "
~Rylie O.  ~
"I have No  clue how you came up with that name! Maybe it is something to do with your daughter?"
~Julia
"Kids love you and you have  rosie cheeks?"
 ~  Raina ~
"When you have kiddos you are always pulling crazy things out of your bag (just like Mary Poppins did in the movie-she had a lamp,  mirror, coat rack and  tape measure) or it is because when you had your kiddos you wanted to start making things for them, and you need all of the above items throughout the process of  sewing."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SOOOOOO CLOSE!  Well, you might be surprised that a cupcake started all of this.  Yes, I said cupcake!  Not just ANY cupcake but the most delicious (in my opinion  and many others) EVER.  I started making a sourcream  poundcake cupcake with creamcheese icing for my kid's school  parties.  I joked saying they were called  "Merri Poppins Cupcakes because they are practically perfect in every way."  I have made a  lot of cakes through the years...my oldest child is 12 now (gasp!) and they are  still my absolute favorite. With me being a Disney nut, my friends at school (teasing/calling) me Merri Poppins, and being able to craft my life  away....Merri Poppins had to be the name for my business. :)  Raina was in the right area mentioning the tape measure...LOL  That is when Mary says  "Practically perfect in every way"!  I don't for one second think that I am perfect...but those cupcakes sure taste like perfection to  me!!!

Side note...I do have a "carpet  bag"  his name is James or Mr. Merri if you will..........and I have an "umbrella' who is my bestie Salena who helps deliver cakes and pick up supplies!  Merri would not be complete without those two, so a HUGE
Thank You to those who "make it happen" for me!!

The cupcake behind the name....these are "practically perfect in every way!"

Don't forget to enter this week's giveaway!!!!  Thanks for a wonderful 1st year- I'm sure you all are tired of hearing me say it...but SERIOUSLY Thank you!

As some of you already know, I have joined a pattern tester group over at CKC. Here are some of the recent new and upsized releases I have been a part of.

The Corinna features a one shoulder and is a tiered twirly dress.  I used The Simple Life fabric line by Riley Blake.  I LOVE Riley blake fabrics!  Everyone always comments on Jenna's clothes when she wears CKC made with Riley Blake :)  This little creation even made it to the "pattern wall of fame" thanks to Becca's  talented photog skills!!!

The Rory is a stripwork skirt with lots of fullness!  I used up the rest of my Valentines fabric to make this one.  It's a great way to use up left over scraps of fabric especially in the toddler sizes.  It would look great in denim!!

My favorite tween piece so far!  Perfect sundress for the pool or beach!!!
