In last week's giveaway there was a question about how I named my business. Some of you left me some wonderful guesses!!! Here is a recap!

"I have No clue how you came up with that name! Maybe it is something to do with your daughter?"

"When you have kiddos you are always pulling crazy things out of your bag (just like Mary Poppins did in the movie-she had a lamp, mirror, coat rack and tape measure) or it is because when you had your kiddos you wanted to start making things for them, and you need all of the above items throughout the process of sewing."

SOOOOOO CLOSE! Well, you might be surprised that a cupcake started all of this. Yes, I said cupcake! Not just ANY cupcake but the most delicious (in my opinion and many others) EVER. I started making a sourcream poundcake cupcake with creamcheese icing for my kid's school parties. I joked saying they were called "Merri Poppins Cupcakes because they are practically perfect in every way." I have made a lot of cakes through the years...my oldest child is 12 now (gasp!) and they are still my absolute favorite. With me being a Disney nut, my friends at school (teasing/calling) me Merri Poppins, and being able to craft my life away....Merri Poppins had to be the name for my business. :) Raina was in the right area mentioning the tape measure...LOL That is when Mary says "Practically perfect in every way"! I don't for one second think that I am perfect...but those cupcakes sure taste like perfection to me!!!
Side note...I do have a "carpet bag" his name is James or Mr. Merri if you will..........and I have an "umbrella' who is my bestie Salena who helps deliver cakes and pick up supplies! Merri would not be complete without those two, so a HUGE
